Answers to the questions we receive most about value-added processes.
WMW's value-added capabilities include: cutting to shape (laser, shear, waterjet), edge welding and binding, multi-layer sintering (diffusion bonding), calendering (rolling to reduce thickness and aperture), heat setting, electropolishing, chemical brightening, and assembly into finished filter elements such as disc filters, candle filters, mesh packs, and ring disc filters.
Sintered multi-layer mesh (diffusion-bonded) is a laminate of multiple woven mesh layers permanently bonded by heat and pressure without brazing material. This creates a stable, rigid filter medium with precise filtration ratings, high strength, and excellent backwash resistance - ideal for polymer melt filtration, hydraulic filtration, and gas filtration in demanding conditions.
Calendering is a post-weaving process where the mesh is passed through precision rollers to flatten the crimp at wire intersections, reducing overall thickness and the aperture of the mesh. Calendered mesh offers a smoother surface, more uniform opening size, and improved filtration consistency - widely used in polymer and pharmaceutical filtration.
WMW manufactures complete filter elements in addition to raw mesh supply. The product range includes pleated mesh filter candles, multi-layer disk filters, ring disk filters, mesh packs, and fully customized filter assemblies - suitable for direct integration into customer filtration systems.
